HashString is a free, open-source utility for generating and validating cryptographic hashes.

PLEASE NOTE: Some versions of Windows Defender may incorrectly flag HashString as suspicious because it is a small, unsigned utility built with Python.
This is a false positive. HashString does not contain any malware.
To prevent Windows Defender from deleting the program or removing the Start Menu shortcut, please add HashString's installation folder as an exclusion.
To do this:
Go to Settings ? Windows Security ? Virus & threat protection ? Manage settings ? Exclusions ? Add an exclusion ? Folder
Choose the folder where you installed HashString, for example: C:\Program Files\HashString.
HashString is open-source, uses standard Python hashing libraries, and does not access the internet or modify system files.
The false positive is caused by how Python applications are packaged, not by the behavior of the program.
